Costain West Africa Plc, a major commercial construction player in Nigeria, has began the construction of a new multi-million dollar project for the Watch Tower Society of Jehovah Witnesses in Auchi, Edo State.
The project is part of the construction company’s planned multiple projects.
Costain’s Managing Director, Mr. Hart Wharton, who described the project as the company’s biggest project yet, said on Tuesday that the proposed branch expansion for the Watch Tower Society in Edo State represented a new positive development in the restructured operational focus of the company.
He, however declined giving the exact value of the project.
He said, “This magnificent project has been tagged ‘P60’ and it is the highest the company has ever had. The Watch Tower is an exceptional and historic project and is being regarded as such in Costain West Africa Plc’s existence.
“We are more excited because Project ‘P60’ coincides with our 60th anniversary, and as we celebrate our 60th year in existence, what better way to mark it than with a project of such magnanimous proportions.”
According to Wharton, work on the project is expected to begin in November 2008, with completion and operation tenure set for 29 months.
He expressed enthusiasm over the project as a cardinal step in the firm’s competitive posturing in the Nigerian construction industry.
“We are very excited at the prospect of this project because of what it means to the company, it is our biggest project to date since the inception of Costain West Africa Plc.
“It is yet another opportunity to show our stakeholders how diverse we are and our ability and willingness to tap into areas of opportunities in different sectors,” he said.
